NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
