NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
