Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
