NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
