NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
