by Gaige on April 6th, 2024
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
