No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
